A man of complete compassion.Mr.T.Govindasamy Pillai did everything he could do to aid the poor of Kotagiri(near Ooty),of the Nilgiris District,to get education and everything in their life.

• Wherever there was hatred, he sowed the seeds of love.
• Wherever there was doubt, he instilled the sense of faith.
• Wherever there was despair, he paved the way for hope.
• Wherever there was darkness, he brought a brilliant light.
• Wherever there was sadness, he filled the atmosphere with joy.

A soul of sole service, he left this world on 8th sep.1991.To perpetuate his memory and to continue the service begun by Mr.T.Govindaswamy pillai,this trust has been formed.

GEC Trust was established by Mr.G.Balasubramaniyan in the memory of his father (Late) Mr.T.Govindaswamy Pillai in the year 2001(registered as 1605/2001). Other Trustees include Miss Joy Maragatham(Secretary) and Mr.M.Thangavel (Treasurer). The main motto of the Trust is to start educational institutions. The specific objectives laid down for the GEC Trust, at the time of its inception, were

• To establish or contribute to educational institutions, from the level of school to higher institutions including medical and engineering institutions.
• To spread awareness among the public on the importance of science, economy and rural development.
• To spread knowledge and education by the publishing books, and by running book trusts and libraries.
• To establish or contribute construct to the running of hospitals, and paramedical institutions to provide medical relief to the needy poor.
• To run orphanages and old age homes.
• To aid the poor by means of scholarships and donations towards their education.
• To run vocational education institutes to prepare the skilled manpower in the areas of retailing, manufacturing,rural management and information technology.
• To provide relief to the disabled, mentally challenged, deprived women, the destitute and the incapacitated people.
• To conduct research programmes in the areas of economic and rural development such as treatment of waste water, disability assistance, disaster management, economic forming, provision of urban facilities to rural areas etc.,
